No more news than that what we wrote in February, it’s something we’d really like to bring sooner than later, but we’re two people trying to go as fast as we can, it isn’t a trivial feature alas.
Hi Mekentosj
Absolutely love Agenda but deeply in great need of a Quick Entry Commend In order to write out a task for today or on Agenda.
Any luck on having this feature being next to come to agenda.
Thanks again have a great day!
Regards,
Diego Quevedo
With the sharing extension in place this definitely got a big bump on our list. Stay tuned.
Is there any update on this at all? This is definitely a missing feature for me and what keeps me from using Agenda for noting stuff down on the go.
Still making its way to the top, no ETA yet I’m afraid.
Hi! Thanks for the shortcut but can you share the link here? It isn’t opening for me in Dropbox.
Totally understand how you guys work and the constraints you’re under. Just wondering if there’s an update on this.
Thanks!
Not at the moment, we’ll let you know here.
I use a note called “Inbox”, rather than a project. Then I use an iOS shortcut to Show Note “Inbox”.
The shortcut opens the note in Agenda, and I add a new list line (bullet for task, dash for note), then go back to whatever I was doing.
At the end of the day I process the list. Actions and notes get cut and pasted to the appropriate project note and deleted from inbox.
+1 for this crucial feature!
It would be nice to have a corner mouse-hover (maybe left corner?!) asking for a quick note, similar to how Apple’s Notes currently does on macOS Monterey.
It’s tempting to use that feature from Apple’s Notes due to its presence, but I remind myself to use Agenda instead.
+100 to this, I’m moving over from windows/onenote and that was a key feature. Especially now that Monterey has this, it’s going to make the Agend workflow feel very weird and outdated.
Was there any progress with this ‘quick note’ feature. I’ve come across this thread as a new user and not sure if the functionality has already been added.
Grateful for any feedback from the group.
Not yet, but getting closer to the top of the list
Thank you!
Guys, please. People have been asking for this since 2018 (most likely even earlier) for some type of quick note functionality, is it really that hard to implement? :c
There is not currently a quick entry form. We would like to do it, but want to do it well.
Note that we do support share extensions on all platforms, so if you are in another app, and want to capture something, you can use the Share menu or the share button (box with arrow), and send it straight to Agenda.
Since these posts we have also added support for multiple windows, including floating windows. So you could have one note for general capturing, and have it float over everything. May help.
Yep, that all sure exists and it’s easier to do on Mac, but jotting a quick note on iPhone/iPad is quite challenging (there’s not a widget nor a control center action there yet).
Compare it to the apple notes quick note functionality, it takes 1 click to jot something down through the control center button (and yes, you could say use apple notes for that, but I then have to transfer it from one app to the other).
I know of shortcut existence too, not as good as having a native interface (I would assume people will agree with this).
At the end of the day, having quick input is crucial to a notes app imo, and for me, personally, not having this detracts from otherwise great experience.
For Hookmark I needed a default “Hook to new Agenda” location for the app to auto send new links so I tied it to my Inbox. That and the pain of having to move Apple notes to Agenda gave me the idea to create an Agenda “QuickNotes” project. Yes I had to create a small shortcut with a global keyboard shortcut trigger and I can now edit or start a new note from anywhere.
You can already do that now:
@drewmccormack I haven’t checked it, but maybe this information is too hidden. Perhaps the Help&Support section of the Agenda app is too complicated for many users.
OK, so I thought you meant on Mac. On iOS, it is even more difficult to achieve, because Apple completely lock down the platform.
The quick notes is actually an excellent example. Apple are able to support that in their own notes app because they control the operating system. Expect that to become important evidence in upcoming antitrust suits.
We don’t have that luxury. We do have widgets and control center controls. What are you missing with those exactly?
It is true we haven’t built one to make a new note directly. Perhaps we should do that. Ie a widget that creates a new note in a project of your choice.
What you can do is setup a widget for a “favorite note”. Eg I have a particular note that I use for quick jottings and tasks. I have that as a widget. One click and I’m in. You can also have that on your Lock Screen.
If this isn’t enough, can you explain what sort of widget you would like?
