I use this for person and work needs. My work computer is windows based, and my personal world is all Apple. It would be nice if I can have agenda open on my work machine and not just sitting next to me on my iPad or work issued iPhone.
I’m afraid we are an Apple shop, and focused on Apple devices. Extending our app to windows or even storing all the data in the cloud and making a full web app is not our expertise, and would require a major expansion of our company, so it is not very likely.
We have some ideas to help Windows/Android users integrate a bit better with Agenda, but it falls short of a full working app on the web, or on Windows.
Sorry I don’t have better news.
Speaking of web, are our Agenda notes sitting/synced in place as encrypted on Apple servers?
With Apple Notes, it has an iCloud interface, so they can decrypt right on the website, but how are they stored and decrypted.
I’m hoping Agenda is more secure.
We use Apple’s iCloud for sync. Apple encrypts all data in iCloud, so someone can only access your data with your Apple sign in.
As you point out, you have to trust Apple, because they do hold the encryption keys. Apple can access the data themselves if they need to, but hopefully that is very rare.
If you want stronger encryption, that is possible: You can choose the sync service “iCloud (E2E Encrypted)” inside of Agenda. If you do that on all devices, Agenda will store your data in a special place that is covered by Apple’s Advanced Data Protection (ADP).
To get the full encryption, you do have to turn on ADP on your devices in the settings. However, this should not be taken too lightly. Doing this means the only way to decrypt the data is a local device — Apple no longer have the keys. If you somehow forget how to sign in, all your data is effectively gone. So think it through carefully and take precautions.
Even a view only solution would be extremely beneficial. Can you share what/if you have anything in the pipeline?
Nothing directly in the pipeline. A view only option is one of the things we could consider. I think people would pretty quickly want to edit though, without realizing that the complexity and cost of fully hosting notes in the cloud, and building a web editor, is much greater than just sharing a read-only note.
Sorry I can’t be more specific. I don’t have any answers at the moment, because we are still very busy with other projects. We’ll see what we can do in future.
