Is the ability to take inline notes with Apple Pencil a possibly? Like how the pencil support works in Apple notes? Or is the api not available?

We don’t have inline notes yet. You can use the pencil in two ways:
- You can make an image with the pencil. You could use this to write a page of notes, for example.
- You can use Apple’s Scribble technology on iOS 14 to write with the pencil, and have it inserted into your text as text.
We hope to allow inline pencil drawing/writing in future.

Hi there, is there any news on inline note-taking? I take a lot of hand-written notes but find Scribble is far too inaccurate and gets too fiddly in dealing with correcting recognition errors. (NB: Text recognition and extraction from an image would be a great alternative.)

Apple are adding some options for recognizing text. We may be able to add that to the drawing view, so you can copy the text there, or perhaps replace the image with the text. We will have to consider our options.
Note that it won’t be inline text at this point. It will still be a separate drawing area. For inline, I’m afraid you would need to use Apple’s Scribble. Perhaps in the more distant future we can try to integrate some sort of inline drawing area, like Apple Notes.
