Using Agenda as a task manager

Is it possible to use agenda as a task manager or create notes that are used in recurring events ?

You can certainly create checklists within your notes and as such use it as a task manager, also in combination with reminders if you like.

It’s also possible to link notes to the individual occurrences of a repeating event (e.g. this monday’s weekly meeting). It’s not currently possible to link a note to all occurrences of a repeating event, it’s something we’d discourage. Instead you can consider using the new templates features to create a standard note for each event: Create a new note from a template, then link it to the calendar event.

What I really need is to create notes that use a repeating task for example electricity bill, every month or insurance bill every year.

At the moment this isn’t possible, that feels more like it belongs in the calendar and/or reminders app to be honest.

I’m using note templates to get around this issue. For recurring tasks, I’ve given myself recurring checklists. You can make a note containing the dates of when you would like to be reminded and then tag those reminders in. When it comes time to do the recurring job, I will past in a template checklist. For example, if I want to remind myself to back up my files twice a month, I’ll make a project called data backup, make a note and put in some reminder dates. When the day comes, I’ll make a note with the template checklist and do the thing. Necessity is the mother of innovation isn’t it?

Hey @mekentosj , 4 years later, there is no recurring task note, right ?

Like @dbfarrell, I have used the template to go around this issue but it is not as convenient.
If a note cannot be recurring through time why not let templates be set to appear at recurring times in the futur? Appearing automatically in the today tab of that recurring day. That would work perfectly fine and save the issue and inconvenience of remembering and doing it manually. Inconvenience may not seem much, but inconvenience can break a workflow (a system).

What are your thoughts ?

Yeah, this method is a workaround only if you are super invested in using Agenda as a task manager. I get it now that the reminders feature is an add-on rather than a core function. Best be using Reminders or some other calendar app as the devs recommend.

Indeed, this is something we have not yet added I’m afraid.
