Text that I had jot down only appear back as I tap on each blank space

What I did: I tried to read something I wrote earlier today

What happened: it was all blank until I tapped in the blank space, then each line would appear as I tapped

What I expected: I expected that the text just be there when I open the agenda app

Things that might be helpful to know (Agenda version, OS and model, etc):

Do you perhaps have the phone set to switch automatically between light and dark mode? Does it help if you force quit the app and start it again? See How to force quit apps on iPhone and iPad | iMore
And if so, does it happen later again?
