Tables - Adjusting, Sorting, Attaching, Embedding

Hi, I am new and I am liking the integration with calendar and all so far, I just need to work with tables, so I would love to find a solution: currently, tables are quite lacking in functionality: no column size adjusting, and above all no sorting whatsoever… so I looked into attaching files (like numbers or google sheets).

Number files are kind of read-only, it’s not that smooth to “download-duplicate-edit-delete-reupload” and linking a Google spreadsheet is a solution, but then there is a need for an internet selection (non-editable during flights) and blablabla. I would love to have a more direct solution to edit a table inside a note, either by embedding a numbers file or by the agenda table system, but it really needs sorting at least.

Please let me know if I am missing something to achieve what I’d like.

Thanks

Marco

You need to unlock and turn off versioning before initially saving the file as an attachment. I have yet to see an app which has tables that can compete with a spreadsheet for other than the most basic uses. Would you use Numbers to write letters!

If you drag a Numbers file into Agenda, it should automatically get attached as a file, and you can edit it by double clicking etc.

Of course, it is not linked anymore to the original file you made. It is a copy of that file which Agenda maintains.

If you need to collaborate or use the spreadsheet online, it is best to just save a link into Agenda, which won’t show the content, but you can click to get to it quickly.

We have plans to improve tables soon, but they will never be as good as a dedicated app like Numbers. They will always be for simple tables of info.

I link the Excel spreadsheets (work) stored in OneDrive and also my private Number files in iCloud.
This works perfectly for me in Agenda.

Ok, cool, it’s okay anyway, where is this file stored? Locally or on iCloud?

Yeah, I didn’t mean I need a spreadsheet-like flexibility for tables, but rather basic or less basic but still simple functionalities such as sort Z-A/A-Z.

Anyway, I think I can get away with the file copy option for now!
