“Stay on top” window - minimise note

It would be useful if a separate window that is set to “stay on top” could be temporarily minimised by say, double clicking on the title bar, and the re-opened with the same action.

I often take notes into a separate window while on a Zoom call - and if I’m also refering to other windows like webpages. I’m on a 13” MBA so screen estate is limited!

If the note is set to Stay on Top, it often obscurs what I need to refer to.

If it’s set to normal, it’s get lost when I go to other apps.

Being able to minimise it to, say, just a very small title bar, that “stays on top” would be a big help!

Have you tried using Stage Manager? Almost all the time I’ll have 2 Ag windows and 3-5 windows of other apps open in the same space. Couldn’t manage w/o it. What would you think about tabs?

Tried using stage manager when it first came out and just couldn’t get on with it. Can’t remember why! I think there was some buggy behaviour, presumably fixed by now.

I am a long time Magnet user (window manager) and I suspect I couldn’t see any benefit from SM. Perhaps it’s time to give it another chance.

I think Windows used to have a feature like that, right, where you collapse down to the title bar? In any case, I don’t see it much on Macs, if at all.

I think it probably would be better to use one of the existing Apple system options. Eg. What you describe is quite similar to just hitting the yellow minimize button. With Stage Manager on, it goes there, otherwise it goes into the dock and can be maximized with one click. So it is quite similar to collapsing and expanding.

Thanks! I’ll give stage manager another try. Remembering now that it was the full screen aspect of SM that didn’t work for me!
