When searching in notes, it would be convenient that even the folded notes appear unfolded if they contain the relevant information.

Has this important feature been forgotten?

I have a lot of collapsed notes in a project, and after each search result, I have to expand the note to see the content.

The search function in Agenda 21 is already very advanced, and it would be great if these practical and necessary features could now be implemented as well. Preferably directly in Agenda 21.01 :heart_hands:

By the way, when I want to go to a note via an agenda link, it remains collapsed.
That’s also very inconvenient.

That’s intentional. We don’t really want to be auto expanding notes, because after that they stay expanded, and it could cause a mess if you are just looking through for a particular note. Imagine arrowing through a bunch of search results, and all those notes not only appearing, but also expanding and then staying expanded.

Perhaps we can add a shortcut, like holding shift auto-expands. I’ll see if that is possible.

In practice, it still seems broken to me and one step is missing.
Not all notes found should be automatically expanded at the same time.

When I click/tap on a note in the search window, I want to see its content.
Then I decide whether this note should be collapsed again.

With linked notes, it’s very clear to me. When I click on the link to the note, I want to see and read it right away.

I understand your point. We considered it. The problem is that expanding/collapsing is a persistent state, and even syncs to other devices. It needs to be more deliberate. We can’t be expanding your notes across devices just because you are clicking through the search results. It’s too destructive.

I will see if I can add the option to use shift to auto expand. That would give you a way to say “I really want to see the contents”. You could searching for many reasons, eg, reorganizing, moving, etc. You don’t always need to see the contents.

I wasn’t sure if this belonged here, but before I forget…
Please note that highlighting search results in collapsed notes is currently not working. The search term is not highlighted in collapsed notes.

Can you explain that? If the note is collapsed, it can’t highlight the word, right? Or do you mean you wish it would expand and show the word?

Exactly. If a minimized note contains search results, these are not highlighted after expanding the note.

This will soon be possible with shift-click, but only on Mac. I would like to see the same function on iPad and iPhone.

What about an indicator of some type to show that a hit is in the collapsed note or paragraph. I have the same issue with links under a closed header. (better than searching though😏). Perhaps a tiny search icon and/or link symbol that the search triggers and clears when search is cleared? It would have to show on a collapsed note though.
I sometimes actually search for a link that I can’t find but know a word or two that are in its title. But the headers that I have standardized I tag since a note is the granular limit.
