Perhaps this is already asked, but i can’t find it.
If you format the header of the template with parameters this is also the title of the template.
Is is possible to rename the title (name) of the template without losing the parameter structure in the template?
Yes! Simply click on the name of the template in the list on the left, instead of the title bar. You might need to expand the window to see this.

Glad I found this post, b/c it wasn’t very intuitive to me either. Perhaps also include an option in the 3-dot menu (that currently has “Duplicate Template” and “Delete Template”)?
