Hello,
Are there any conditions under which you are obligated to, by law, to share personal information of users with a law enforcement agency? I am in a legal situation where I might be involved with local/federal agency. Them having access to my notes and journal can severely impact my case. I understand the data is encrypted however I need to know if there is a back door entry that can allow law enforcement to peek into a person’s data.
Thanks
By default, we sync data via iCloud. Apple encrypts the data in iCloud, but it does hold the keys to decrypt, so if the FBI or others come knocking, it is possible Apple would give them the data.
We have a second sync option: iCloud (E2E Encrypted). If you select that, it will use a separate part of iCloud with E2E encryption. If you now turn on Apple’s Advanced Data Protection on your devices, all your cloud data in iCloud should be inaccessible to Apple. (The Agenda team has no access to your iCloud data at all, under any circumstances.)
That just leaves collaboration notes. These are not E2E encrypted, as this is very hard when more than one person is sharing the note. My advice is not to use this feature on any sensitive notes. (In any case, if you share a note for collaboration, you are already intrinsically assuming the other party will not share the data, so that is a risk.)
Hope that helps!
