Not sure how best to use @-person tags

I’m coming back to Agenda after some time away and love how it’s progressed!

I manage a lot of people, so I have one project per person, and keep one note per 1:1.

I also have projects for actual projects.

If I use the project linking e.g. [[project]] for both people and actual projects, I get related notes, and I can go back and forth between people and actual projects.

If I use @(person) for people, I can no longer go from a say a note in an actual project to all the notes about a person.

I get the sense that @(person) is really intended for smart searching? This makes sense, but it means I can no longer link to see all that persons notes. Moreover, I’d have to add the tag to every note I capture. I did give that a go but it’s cumbersome, especially given I can’t put tags in either project names or note titles.

Ideally, I’d LOVE to be able to use the @(person) tag and just see a list of those people in the left-hand-side like I see projects, add notes to them, etc. But given that I can’t treat them that way, I suspect using [[project]] is the way to go?

So, given all that, what do others do? What do you use @(person) for, just searching?

Have you tried Smart Overview yet?
A saved search for @Person allows you to display and edit all relevant notes via the smart overview.

The only problem could be the number of people. The list under Smart Overviews can quickly become too long and make the left side confusing.
I would like to see some kind of folder/explorer structure here.

Are you saying that you don’t see related notes with the same person? I think you should. Maybe it is broken. I can look into it.

It’s not a bad idea. Actually, the two together. Maybe a collapsible category with tags and another for people, so you could effectively get a quick search without setting up a smart overview.

I love the idea of treating people as first class objects. As a manager of dozens of people it’s perfect. The challenge is if I don’t tag every note with them, then they don’t appear when I search. Which I get makes sense because they’re just tags. At the end of the day, the outcome is I’d love to be able to file notes about people with less awkwardness. It would eg totally make sense to me for a project to have default tags, or for people to appear in note titles, or for people to be a collection of notes like a project. I’m trying hard to avoid a concrete solution but I think people are at the same level of abstraction as projects. Tags are meta data. I don’t manage tags. I do manage people and projects.

I definitely considered that. But that means I need to create dozens of smart overviews manually and then remember to create a new one for every person. Moreover, I want to be able to add notes to a person not just view and edit.
