iOS You Tube Share Link issue

On my iPad, in the YouTube app, sharing a video has an issue.

  1. If I tap the Share function, then More to get the Apple share sheet, then tap Agenda, I can get to the note I want to insert into. BUT, the link never converts to the TITLE of the video, but displays just the video number like: YouTube video (u4H-9Z2L5tw)

  2. If I just tap Copy Link, and then manually go to Agenda, find the note and then Insert, the You Tube video title appears properly.

Anyone else try this?

Thanks. We’ll look into it.

It is very likely that we didn’t implement the title lookup in the sharing extension. It may even be that we are restricted in the extension, and not able to access the internet. We need to go to the address to find the title.

This issue still exists. The share sheet works with other apps, just not YouTube. Any chance this will get fixed. I like to post You Tube video into Agenda. Doesn’t anybody else?

Thanks

I don’t think I have heard it from others. I will add it to the list. Sorry for the delay.

Please let me know if I’m doing something wrong.

In YT ios app, I touch SHARE, only a few YT choices appear.
I then touch MORE… to get the IOS Share sheet.
Then I can touch the Agenda icon, and Agenda pops up.
When I touch “Insert” I only get “YouTube video (xxXXxxXX)”

Just wanted to be sure I’m doing it right, since no one else is sharing YT videos. Surprised!

Ah, OK. I just tried it, and it works as it is supposed to for now. You get a link to the YouTube video.

We can’t download and insert the video itself, like we do for images, because YouTube doesn’t allow it. It is streaming the video, not getting a download.

What we could do in future, and what we want to do, is have previews for links. So if you link a web site, you see a preview of that web site as a thumbnail, and same for YouTube videos and other content. Perhaps that is what you were expecting.

In practice, it works out the same, namely you get a link in your document. The preview makes it look nicer, but it functions the same (tapping takes you to the browser).

Hope that explains it!

No, what I’m saying if I just copy the link and paste it into Agenda, It looks up the title of the video and uses that for the link. Nice. But using the Share page doesn’t.

I didn’t mean I wanted the video loaded, just the title like with all other links from safari, news, etc.

Ah, I see. It does work from the YouTube web site, but not the app.

The video just seems to be called “YouTube Video”. My guess is that the YouTube app is not attaching the title, so we revert to that.

I will investigate. If we see “YouTube Video”, we probably should do an internet request to get the title.
