Not sure if this is an issue or It’s me that I don’t understand how sorting works or a bit of both.
I stopped using Agenda one year ago because of the troubles with sorting and came back trying to get it how I want but I still can’t.
What I did:
I set sorted grouped by completed, order by assigned date.
All my notes have assigned date, some are completed and others are not.
What happened:
Sometimes notes are correctly sorted, completed notes are at the bottom and sorted by assigned date but sometimes (same notes) show in a weird order, completed notes are at the bottom but assigned dates are not in the right order.
Sometimes this happens when I edit a note like adding a style or adding a collapsed section then the notes are re-sorted again and sometimes I lose the focus of my note and I have to search it again to find it in a completely different position.
Clicking in another project and clicking back on the same project fixes this (sort order is fixed again), sometimes this doesn’t work neither. It’s weird.
What I expected:
I expect the same order for all notes unless I complete / uncomplete a note or I assign a new date to a note.
It only happens when you "group by” something.
I tried:
Grouping by colors adding colors to the completed notes (didn’t help, same thing happens).
Remove assigned date to my uncompleted notes but sorting works even worse, notes keep changing position even when I only edit some styles (setting a text as bold)
The good news are now I can hide completed notes so I guess I could do that instead but it’s still weird this doesn’t work.
Sorry to keep adding responses I can’t find how to edit messages. I forgot to mention I created the notes alphabetically just in case creation date matters. So A, B, C and then D.
Are you sure the order is wrong? I see notes grouped by completion, with the completed ones at the bottom. And within each group (completed/incomplete), it sorts them by assigned date (ie Hoy is after El miércoles pasado).
What am I missing?
Note also that setting the a note to be pinned or be a footnote may also affect the order.
Update: Ah, I see now. The completed ones should indeed be reversed, I would think. And there is nothing else of importance, like using pinned?
I use this to remove completed notes out of my view to the bottom which is nice so the top of my project is always uncompleted notes which are the ones I need to check the most. But I guess I can just filter out the uncompleted notes so that would work.
Maybe It’s because I have the application in Spanish and it’s using the “label” of the date instead of the internal date for sorting? Also I can feel the application not as smooth when using a "group by”.
I think I’m going to stick with the default order without grouping and I will remove the completed tasks with filters as I said and will move on but if you guys could find how to fix it it would be great.
I think is really using the label of the “date” instead of the internal date for sorting. Just checked again and it makes sense. The order matches the text of the date alphabetically.
Completed notes: Hoy → Ayer
Uncompleted notes: El miércoles pasado → Hoy
That would explain why everyday I find my notes in a different order.
