When I add a url to a note, it changes from the url address to the name of the destination. That’s great. But when I copy a passage that has a hyperlink to another source embedded, I want to retain the text, not have that embedded link swapped in for the language in the passage that links to another source. Is there a way to keep a linked passage as is? Or to remove any embedded hyperlinks so as not to lose the meaning of the passage?
When you copy such a link it should put the complete link on the pasteboard. If you don’t want to have the shortening at all, or want to revert to the full link, this is now possible too, see this video: Take POWERFUL ACTIONS using your NOTES with Agenda 14 - YouTube
Thanks Alex! I’m not concerned about links between notes. The video is really clear on that. If I paste a link to a url elsewhere on the web, Agenda converts the url to the name of that page.
When I pasted a passage from an article that had a hyperlink to another article in one of the sentences, in place of hyperlinked text (substance) it added the name of the article that was being linked. It removed the hyperlinked language. As a result, the sentence no longer made sense. I see the trick of using the backslash to keep a link as is, but that doesn’t quite do the trick for text that has a hyperlinked reference. Is there a way to keep the integrity of the passage without the conversion of the link? Would I use the backslash at the beginning of the passage? I hope I’m explaining in a way that you see what I mean.
Can you show this in a screenrecording?
I don’t know how to do a screen recording. But I can show you with text:
Here is an original passage from a blog post:
The question is kind of cheating. There is, of course, no one thing, and if Farnam Street is a testament to any idea, it’s that you must pull from many disciplines to achieve overall wisdom. No truly great thinker is siloed in a small territory.
When I paste that same passage into an Agenda note, here’s what happens:
The question is kind of cheating. There is, of course, no one thing, and if Farnam Street is a testament to any idea, it’s that you must pull from Mental Models: The Best Way to Make Intelligent Decisions (~100 Models Explained) - Farnam Street No truly great thinker is siloed in a small territory.
You can see that the hyperlinked text is now replaced but the name of the blog post, destroying the meaning of the passage. All I did was paste into a note and it converted automatically. That’s great for a simple url when you are looking to just add a link to your note. But it isn’t good with hyperlinked text.
Hopefully that explains what I mean?
I see now what’s going on, ok, understood, we’ll take a look. Thanks!
Hi there. Just checking in to see if you have made any progress on fixing the embedded hyperlink problem in this thread? It significantly hampers long form writing in Agenda. Thanks!
It should have been fixed already, what version are you on?
Aha! That was the continuing issue. Thank you for your help and your fix! Cheers!
Glad to hear!
