Formatting bar instead of floating palette

Hi all,

I really love Agenda and I’m a Premium user, but my one frustration is still formatting. I find the floating formatting palette (on the Mac version) annoying and not easy to use. I’d much prefer if each note had a fixed formatting bar, which is always visible.

To take an example, currently, if I want to highlight some text, I have to highlight the text, then click at the side of the paragraph then select the highlight colour to finally highlight. Correspond this with if the highlight button was always visible fixed to a formatting bar attached to each note, with a default highlight colour already selected, this would be much easier. Plus, there is no way to stay in ‘highlighter mode’ (that I’m aware of), so I have to keep going through these steps.

It’s actually better on the iPad where these formatting options do actually appear as a fixed formatting bar as part of the iPad’s pop up keyboard.

It really drives me crazy and formatting is such a common operation it needs to be silky smooth and I just don’t believe it is.

If nothing else, can we get a keyboard shortcut for highlighting?

Thanks for listening,

Stu

Hi Stu,

Agenda tends to lean on text shortcuts more than other text editors. Eg. you can use a lot of the markdown shortcuts.

There are also the actions, and highlight is one. So you can type backslash highlight to get options for that (\highlight). There is a popover that gives choices.

If you want to use the palette, and use it often, you can tear it off as a floating window. That works much more like the bar you want. You can always see it. Just grab the handle a the top.

Hopefully one of these helps. We will take along the idea of a formatting bar.

Kind regards,
Drew
