The support for external keyboard on iPad is not really good - when editing a note I would expect CMD-Left or CMD-Right to jump at the start of a line or at the end or at least something like CTRL-A or CTRL-E.
Please checkout some other editors like IA-Writer or Textastic - they do it very well.
