As the topic says, really — I’d like to ability for the contents of my note to be “backed up” by appearing in the notes field of the calendar event to which it is linked.

We take it on board, though the current setup should suffice. It provides an easy way to go to the calendar event, and also back to Agenda. Having the text in both places introduces a bunch of issues, such as what to do with a large note, how to keep everything in sync etc.
