Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is collaboration a premium feature?
A: In order to send invitations and setup a shared note, you need to have the premium features. But to accept an invitation, and partake in a collaboration, you can use the free version of Agenda. This means that for a group of people to setup a collaboration, only one person needs to have the premium features.
Q: Who can join with an invitation link?
A: Anyone with a copy of the invitation link is able to accept the invitation and join the collaboration. You should take care not to share links with people who should not be invited.
Q: Can someone else send my invitation to a third party?
A: Yes, it is possible that someone you have sent the invitation link to can send it to others, who can then join the collaboration. Make sure you trust those you are inviting before you invite them.
Q: How do I know who is sharing a note?
A: You can see user bubbles on the note for people who have joined. Note that everyone can choose any user handle they like, so the bubble may not necessarily show their real name.
Q: Can I remove someone else from the collaboration?
A: There is no owner of a shared note in Agenda. Even the original sharer does not “own” the shared data — it belongs to all participants. For this reason, nobody has the ability to remove others from the note. If you decide you do not want to share with some others, leave the shared note and start a different collaboration.
Q: How do I remove the collaboration data from the cloud completely?
A: This will occur when all users have stopped sharing the note. To force it to happen, you need to convince everyone to leave the collaboration. When the last person leaves, the note will be “unshared”, and removed from the cloud.
Q: What happens if the person you’re sharing a note with does not use Agenda?
A: It will open a webpage explaining that you are invited join a shared note and how to obtain the Agenda app. If you do not have the app installed or cannot use it on the platform you are on, clicking the link to join on this page will not do anything.
Q: Who can see my shared note?
A: Anyone who joins the collaboration can see the current contents of the note. In order to join, they just need to have a copy of the invitation link.
Q: Can I share a project, category, or my entire library?
A: At the moment you can only share individual notes, we’ll consider adding more options in the future. If you want to share your entire library with someone a workaround would be to use the same Dropbox account to sync your library.
Q: Does collaboration in Agenda use end-to-end encryption?
A: Agenda does encrypt shared note before uploading to the cloud, and doesn’t decrypt it at all in the cloud, so data is certainly encrypted in transit and when stored in the cloud. But true end-to-end encryption would require a unique key created on the user device, and not stored in the cloud, like a user password or pin. Agenda does not have this feature yet. We are considering it for a future version.
Q: Why is nothing appearing in Shared with You?
A: Make sure all devices are using iOS 16, iPad 16, or macOS 13 and later. You may also need to open Messages app, and go into the Settings there. Ensure that Agenda is allowed to use Shared with You.
