Could we have a checklist item separate from a to do item that would show up only in the note and not in the to do list. A square box that shows checked or not checked as a different list type would be great. I create checklists for activities that are just supporting getting the work done and not to do items per se. A separate checklist item would be ideal.
I think it is better just to add things to check list items that makes them to-do items for you. Eg. You can add a real reminder (using \remind), or a tag (eg todo).
Ultimately all checklist items are things you need to do. That’s why they have that checked state, ie, whether you did it already or not.
But how they are handled is something you can control with extra info like tags and reminders.
