Option to subdivide individual rows & cells on the grid, irrespective of the fundamental layout 
More advanced split and merge functionality isn’t something we have high on our list I’m afraid, for that it’s better to attach a spreadsheet to the note and manage the table in a dedicated spreadsheet app
