I would like to see the ability to auto-index tags marked with the # and people marked with the @ symbol. These tags should show up on the left hand side when you create them. I would like to use tags to organize my notes rather than a hierarchical file structure.

Seconded! This would be huge for any GTD+Agenda users
We might add a tags/people browser at some point but it’s unlikely we’ll add tags and people to the sidebar I’m afraid.
