Attachment inconsistency between Mac and iPhone for PDF thumbnails

Love the new images feature.

Just one thing that’s a little odd:

I’ve added a jpg, a pdf and docx. When I set all of them to thumbnail and title, the pdf is inconsistent:

  • on the Mac, the thumbnail is an image
  • on iPhone it is three lines, just like the docx.

This has to do with what the system provides. On macOS a PDF is treated as an image by the system and we can easily get a thumbnail, on iOS the system doesn’t treat PDFs as images and hence we’ll need to write our own preview generator, which plan to do but didn’t make the cut for this round.
