What I did:
I use Agenda normally. I haven’t intentionally changed any storage or attachment settings. I’ve noticed the folder appears every time I restart Agenda.
What happened:
A hidden folder named “.Agenda” appears in my Downloads folder. Inside it there’s a single empty folder called “Editable Attachments” — nothing else. If I delete it, it’s recreated the next time I launch/restart Agenda.
What I expected:
Either no folder created in Downloads at all, or a way to disable this / point the working folder somewhere other than Downloads.
Setup:
- Agenda version: 23.1 (412) - Mac App Store
- macOS: Tahoe 26.5.2
- Mac: MacBook Air (M5)
- Sync: iCloud
Since it’s tied to restarting the app rather than to a specific note action, it seems like startup behavior rather than something I’m triggering. Happy to test anything that helps narrow it down. Thanks!
It’s there to support editing of attachments. Eg. If you open an excel attachment in Agenda, you can edit it in excel, and it will save back into Agenda.
Unfortunately, the only way to get this to work, ie, allow another app to edit the attachment, was to put it in Downloads. It’s the only folder when another app is allowed to open it for editing.
We’ll investigate more if there is some other way, but I know we spent a lot of time on it, and this is all we could find to do at the time.
Kind regards,
Drew
Thank you so much for the fast reply, and really great work on the app! One small thought: it would be great if that folder got created only when an edit is actually requested. As a rule I try to never edit in Agenda, and I imagine that’s true for other people too.
That’s a good idea, thanks. I’ll see if we can hold off creating the folder until you actually edit an attachment, rather than doing it on every launch. Like you, most people never edit an attachment in place, so it would keep Downloads tidy for them.
Kind regards,
Drew
