What happened:
There isn’t a means to add a link to the requisite note without going out of Agenda to Reminders and first scrolling to the end of the note to search for and find its link.
What I expected:
To be able to add an agenda url for a Quick Reminder in Agenda
Things that might be helpful to know (Agenda version, OS and model, etc):
The problem with inserting a link is unfortunately well known, and is due to shortcomings on Apple’s side. We do actually set the link in Agenda, but Reminders ignores it. We have been in contact with them for several years about it, but they never come with a solution. Very frustrating.
Ah, can’t believe Apple would ignore a request that improves productivity. …
Agree, it’s frustrating,
Thanks for the reply.
Late with this, enjoying the Search capability.
Thanks for creating it.
Apps like Drafts, Bear and Apple Notes add a clickable icon when you share to Reminders, which can be clicked to take you to the original item (see image). On an iPhone or iPad, Agenda will also add such an icon if you ask Siri to “remind me about this” while you have a note selected. Is it possible to also add this icon to a Reminder when inserting/linking a Reminder to a note, or is this only available from the standard share sheet? This may solve @1581 's problem with not having the URL field populated
Agenda already adds an icon for reminders, namely a clock. That is clickable.
Are you saying you get those icons in the Reminders app? Have not seen that, but maybe it is a new field we haven’t seen. Interesting that you even get it for Agenda.
So you see this when Siri makes the reminder, but not when Agenda itself does?
Yes, I’m talking about the Agenda icon in the Reminders app. I couldn’t recall the details, so I asked Perplexity and got this:
How This Works
System-Level Linking: When you create a reminder from another app (e.g., Safari, Mail, Notes, or Maps), Apple automatically embeds a link or an app icon in the reminder. This link acts as a deep link back to the original item in the source app. For example:
In Mail, sharing an email to Reminders creates a reminder with a “Mail” icon. Clicking this icon opens the original email in the Mail app.
In Safari, sharing a webpage adds a link to that webpage in the reminder.
In Notes, sharing a note creates a reminder with a clickable link back to that specific note.
Share Menu Integration: Many Apple and third-party apps support the Share menu. When you select “Reminders” from the Share menu, the system passes metadata (such as URLs or unique identifiers) from the app to Reminders. This metadata allows Reminders to create a contextual link to the original content.
URL Schemes and Deep Links: Apple uses proprietary URL schemes (e.g., x-apple-reminderkit://) to enable these deep links. These schemes ensure that clicking on an icon or link within Reminders opens the corresponding item in its source app.
Siri Integration: You can also use Siri commands like “Remind me about this” while viewing content in apps such as Safari or Mail. Siri automatically generates reminders with links to the current context.
Drag-and-Drop on macOS: On macOS, you can drag items (e.g., an email or file) directly into Reminders to create tasks with links back to those items.
So it looks like you get it for free via having share menu integration. I just wonder if there’s a way to do it when a user creates a reminder in a note using the backslash command or insert menu. It’s been a while since I looked at the APIs for this stuff, as I don’t do much macOS|iOS|iPadOS development
Edit: I will also note that the app Things has an option to watch a particular list in Reminders, and displays a list in the Things Inbox with the option to import any or all. However, it will not show reminders with this app icon attached, so it’s at least something you can read via EventKit
Sorry, I can’t follow. What does “minute point” mean?
Creating a new event from inside Agenda has always been a premium feature. You can link to events for free, but the small convenience of creating the event in Agenda was kept premium.
I have also tested this with Agenda.
On macOS, no link is created and the content is very similar to “Share to… as Note Text”.
The result is somewhat disappointing.
Yea, that bit of my post you quoted was me quoting from the info Perplexity gave me when I asked it about the various ways those icons end up in Reminders. I also tried “remind me about this” with an Agenda note on my MacBook. It adds the icon but the reminder text isn’t very helpful, as seen in the image
For me, the Reminders integration is already quite good, but adding that icon would be the chef’s kiss on top
