The problem is that Apple doesn’t give us control over when it decides to insert or act on snippets, and as we need to act ourselves on the insertion of a space I’m afraid there’s not much we can do here. We’ll investigate.

The reason I switched away from TextExpander and Typinator was so that I could have access to my snippets in iOS and iPadOS. This switch bears fruit when I’m working on mobile now, because Apple-native text snippets work perfectly on the mobile apps. I can hit the backspace in the middle of a trigger word and it won’t affect anything. Also, I can type as quickly as possible and my snippets will still expand.
It’s really nice, actually.
Here’s to hoping there’s something you can tweak so I can have usable native snippets everywhere. I’d hate to have to use a dedicated snippets tool on the desktop and something else when working on a mobile device.
