Insert a link to another note within a table?

Hi, I am trying to create a reference list and want to have just the author name which acts as link to the note containing the article. I am using a table as I have several topics and find tables easier to navigate. When I select a word in the table and try to insert a link in the same way I have with other notes, the option of insert does not appear. Is there another way to do this other than by pressing control+mouse click? Thanks

Usually links are inserted also by pressing ⌘K but I believe tables support limited formatting (for example on iPadOS the toolbar only shows B I Underlined S mono Superscript and Subscript)
