Note freezes after removal of Reminder ‘Red’ icon

Something that may be relevant. The reminder may have been associated with a Reminders List that was delete while trying to restructure Reminders app.

That would indeed explain it, in that case best way is to not to delete using the popover, but simply put the cursor behind the reminder icon and hit backspace.
