What I wanted to do was find a note I made last month, but couldn’t remember specifically when. Rather than do a search, I went to the calendar and displayed the month, thinking I could scroll to find it. But alas, there are no notes displayed, not even a little icon or a number. I know I get dates attached to my notes, but what about notes attached to my dates? Am i missing something?

I think a search would be best. You don’t have to enter a search term; instead, just tap the calendar icon next to the search field. You can then select a single day, or multiple days, and see all the notes for that range.
Note that it is not the creation date of the notes, it is the date that you attach to the note (eg calendar event).
