Control Shift Up/Down Arrows - where from?

I use Control Shift Up/Down Arrows all the time to move paragraphs in my notes.

I’ve recently started using a web-based text editor that uses Option Up/Down Arrows for the same purpose.

Before I put in a request to either offprint.app or Agenda to change their keyboard commands for moving paragraphs – is there any wider standard or convention for this?

Good question, and I do not think there is a clear winner.

Control Shift Up and Down is the convention we picked up from Apple’s own text handling, and you will see it in a few Mac apps. Option Up and Down is more of a code editor convention, which came out of Visual Studio Code and then spread to a lot of the web based editors.

If it helps, our shortcuts are not fixed. You can remap them in System Settings under Keyboard, using the App Shortcuts section, by matching the exact name of the menu item. That would let you set Option Up and Down in Agenda so both apps behave the same for you.

Hope that helps!
